Museums For All & Non-Discrimination Policy

 Purpose
Red Dog Children’s Museum is committed to being a museum for all—creating a welcoming, respectful environment for every visitor, staff member, volunteer, and partner. We believe in fostering a community where everyone feels valued, safe, and seen, regardless of ability, background, or culture.

Museum for All Statement
At Red Dog Children’s Museum, we believe every child and family deserves to experience wonder, learning, and belonging. We proudly serve a region made up of many backgrounds, traditions, and abilities—and we’re dedicated to reflecting that in everything we do. Being a museum for all is at the heart of our mission and vital to our success in inspiring and educating our little “Red Dogs” from birth to twelve years of age.

  • Welcoming All Backgrounds and Perspectives: We honor the unique perspectives, experiences, and stories of every individual. We strive to ensure our staff, volunteers, programs, and exhibits reflect the people who make up our community.

  • Accessible and Fair Opportunities: We work to remove barriers and ensure that all children and families—regardless of circumstance—can enjoy and benefit from the museum’s offerings.

  • Creating a Sense of Belonging: We intentionally design our spaces and programs to make every visitor feel included and respected, so that every child knows they belong.

Non-Discrimination Policy
Red Dog Children’s Museum does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, or any other characteristic protected by law. This policy applies to all aspects of our operations, including but not limited to:

  • Employment decisions
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Program participation
  • Educational initiatives
  • Events and activities
  • Interaction with visitors and guests

Commitment to a Respectful Environment
We are committed to maintaining an environment that is free from harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Everyone who engages with the museum—whether as employees, volunteers, visitors, or partners—is expected to support this commitment to respect and belonging for all.

Reporting and Resolution
Any instances of discrimination, harassment, or bullying should be reported immediately. Reports can be made to any staff member, or directly to the Executive Director. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and thoroughly. Retaliation against individuals who report concerns or participate in investigations is strictly prohibited.

Education & Training
To support this commitment, Red Dog Children’s Museum will provide regular training and education for staff and volunteers on how to create welcoming and accessible experiences for all individuals. We will continuously review and improve our practices to ensure they meet the highest standards of respect, safety, and fairness.

Conclusion
Red Dog Children’s Museum is committed to being a place where all children and families—regardless of ability, background, or culture—are treated with dignity and respect. Our mission to inspire and educate children through creative, hands-on experiences can only be fulfilled when everyone feels that they belong here.
